Can you try the prebuilt build on ftp.gnu.org? Just the barebin tar
file should be all you need. I think that is built with MSVC, which
is more thoroughly tested on Windows, since previous versions of
Emacs only built with MSVC.
That will tell us if there is a general problem with your NFS client
and/or Emacs 21, or a bug in the mingw32 libraries.
