Font Warning in VNC

From: Scott Talhelm~
Subject: Font Warning in VNC
Date: Wed, 18 Jul 2001 13:18:40 -0400 (EDT)

This bug report will be sent to the Free Software Foundation,
not to your local site managers!!
Please write in English, because the Emacs maintainers do not have
translators to read other languages for them.

In GNU Emacs 20.7.1 (hppa2.0w-hp-hpux11.00, X toolkit)
 of Mon Nov 20 2000 on fhc2013
configured using `configure --prefix=/usr/intel/pkgs/emacs/20.7'

Please describe exactly what actions triggered the bug
and the precise symptoms of the bug:

I always receive the following warning when executing Emacs in a VNC
desktop.

Warning: Cannot convert string
"-*-courier-medium-r-*-*-*-120-*-*-*-*-iso8859-*" to type FontStruct

I downloaded Emacs and found the font specified in the widget.c code.
Removing #define DEFAULT_FACE_FONT and the XtNfint resource eliminated
the warning, with some side affects (no color modes, i.e. cc mode).

I don't know if this is a VNC problem or an Emacs problem but would
like some kind of solution. This issue appears in all version
of Emacs from 19. VNC 3.3.3 R3 can be acquired for free from
http://www.uk.research.att.com. I run vncviewer in Windows 2000
and HP 10.20/11.00 UNIX and see the same Warning.
