M-double-down-mouse-1 in other window inside same frame and buffer

From: Ove Sommer
Subject: M-double-down-mouse-1 in other window inside same frame and buffer
Date: Sat, 27 Jan 2001 16:57:16 GMT

This bug report will be sent to the Free Software Foundation,
not to your local site managers!!
Please write in English, because the Emacs maintainers do not have
translators to read other languages for them.

In GNU Emacs 20.7.2 (mips-sgi-irix6.5, X toolkit)
of Tue Dec 5 2000 on jazz
configured using `configure mips-sgi-irix6.5 --with-x-toolkit=athena
--with-gcc=no --srcdir=/pckg/global/emacs/src/emacs-20.7
--prefix=/pckg/local/emacs-20.7'

Please describe exactly what actions triggered the bug
and the precise symptoms of the bug:

If I edit a file in one frame that is vertically splitted and both
windows show different parts of the file and I use secondary selection
in the other window then the actual cursor position of the other
window (where I did the secondary selection) jumps to that of my
current working window where I would like to paste the selected
word/line.

I upgraded from emacs-19.34 to emacs-20.7. Under 19.34 this worked
fine (means without modifying the cursor position in the other
window). I did not find any way to correct this malicious bahaviour,
so I have to assume that this is a bug.

The following line is the relevant part of the dribble-file:

FAQ<return>2o<end>o<M-down-mouse-1><M-mouse-1><M-double-down-mouse-1><M-double-mouse-1><menu-bar><help-menu><report-emacs-bug>

It would be nice to have the old bahaviour back!

Thanks!
        Ove
