I suggest binding U as dired-unmark-all-marks in dired mode |

In GNU Emacs 20.7.1 (sparc-sun-solaris2.7, X toolkit)
of Thu Sep 21 2000 on thor
configured using `configure --with-x'
Please describe exactly what actions triggered the bug
and the precise symptoms of the bug:
The key binding advertised in the Dired Mark menu for
dired-unmark-all-marks is '* !'. But this is rather awkward to type on
most keyboards since it requires a shifted keystroke from alternate
hands. If u unmarks the current file, it seemed to me that a natural
binding for unmark-all would be U, and when I checked the dired-mode-map
for this key I found that cap U is undefined. Therefore I suggest that U
be bound to dired-unmark-all-marks (in addition to the current binding),
and that suitable arrangements are made so that the easier keystroke is
the one advertised in the menu.
If this is a duplicate, I apologize---the first attempt to send this bug
report didn't show up in the gnu.emacs.bug newsgroup (as far as I can
tell).
