The way we do that in GDB is by specifying a range of breakpoint
numbers.

How about this:
(gdb) set breakpoint-verbose off
(gdb) rbreak .
Breakpoints 5-6666 set.
(gdb) commands 5-6666

(gdb) disable 5-6666
(Currently, there's no way to get a short output from rbreak, and
`commands' doesn't accept ranges of breakpoints.)
