I compiled gdb 5.0 on Linux Redhat 7.1 (I believe) using the default
"configure/make/make install" commands.
While trying to debug a program (compiled with gcc egcs-2.91.66) that loads
shared libraries, gdb became unusable. It issued hundreds of messages
like:
rw_common (): read: Input/output error.
Eventually it printed the following error:
fetch_registers: td_ta_map_id2thr: generic error
Which isn't too useful in determining where I should go from here. :-)
After that point, most commands to explore my program didn't work. I was
able to quit, though.
