install error in procfs.c-->permission denied

I'm having trouble installing GDB.  After typing './configure' then 'make
install' I get a bunch of warnings and 1 error:
        "procfs.c", line 2603: error(1515):
        a value of type "CORE_ADDR" cannot be
        assigned to an entity of type "caddr_t"
        pwatch->pr_vaddr=addr;
I'm not sure why this error is occurring.  Afterwards when I type './gdb' to
see if gdb might work anyway I get './gdb: Permission denied'.  Ideas?
