 I am having a strage problem since I upgraded to Redhat 7.0, gdb 5.0

I want to run a program thru gdb, but pass some commands:

echo -e "run <args>\nbt" | gdb <prog> &>logfile

this worked before the upgrade, now I get "hangup detected on fd 0"
is there any way to work around this? I really need an automatic stack
trace in the logfile.
