Hi,
  so I know at least that something from these bison compile/optimize
problems with native cc on OSF1 got fixed recently. Unfortunately I don't
know yet where to get information from net directly, but at least an email
response from one of the cxx developers who was that kind to forward my
request to cc felows:

This bug report is in the C bug database as cxxc_bugs9889. It is marked to
be fixed in the next release of the compiler. I do not have any other
information. I've added you email to the problem report.
