[Bug-AUCTeX] 11.84; auctex previewer

hi 
I am having difficulties installing preview-latex 
says error in process sentinel: Spawning child process: invalid argument
I am a bit out of my depth
I have had it working on my system before so it does work.
Can anybody help?
In the Tex-style-path the directory as c:/usr/local/var/auctex does not exist
Through emacs this should be /cygwin/usr/local/var/auctex
which has to be /usr/local/var/auctex
